On Windows 9x
Machines
1. Click on Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools
> Disk Defragmenter.
2. Confirm that you want to defragment your C: drive.
This is something that should be done about twice a year.
It is best to start it at the end of the day before you leave due to the fact
that it takes quite a while to perform. Simply start the defrag and turn
your monitor off when you leave. The job should be completed when you
return the next morning.
On Windows 9x Machines
Scan Disk should be run on your computer every 3-4 months. To run scan
disk, follow these steps:
1. Click on Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Scan Disk.
2. In the box that pops up, check the box that says, "Automatically
fix errors."
3. Click "Start."
4. When Scan Disk has completed, click "Close."
Deleting Cookies
Cookies should be deleted from your hard drive every 1-2 weeks.
To delete cookies, follow these steps:
- Right-click on Start.
- Click on Explore.
- Scroll up and find the folder named "Cookies."
- Click on Edit and Select All.
- Click on Delete.
- Confirm that you want to delete the cookies.
- When cookies are deleted, go to your desktop and right click on Recycle
Bin.
- Click on Empty Recycle Bin.
- Confirm that you want to delete the files in the Recycle Bin.

Clearing the Cache
The cache on your computer needs to be emptied at least once a
week. To clear the cache, follow these steps:
- Right-click on Start.
- Click on Explore.
- Scroll down and click on Temporary Internet Files.
- Click on Edit and Select All.
- Click on Delete.
- Confirm that you want to delete the files.

Right click on the Recycle Bin on your desktop.

Click on Empty Recycle Bin.

Confirm that you want to delete the items that are in the Recycle Bin.
