WHO YOU NEED TO KNOW
Who's Who at Ramer School
Our fearless leader is Joe Horton, Ramer's principal. He has been a classroom teacher and coach and brings years of experience to his office. Mr. Horton is married to Pam and is the father of Rafe and Callie, both Ramer students. Mr. Horton was an elementary student at Ramer before graduation from MCHS. Gosh, he must be OLD! (How about 50 this year?)
Assisting Mr. Horton, is Administrative
Assistant, Rusty Petty. He, too, has years of experience not only as an
educator, but also husband to Laurie and father of two
daughters.
OUR OFFICE STAFFOur school would shut down but for the valuable
contributions of our office staff headed by the venerable Pat McMahan (Ramer
born and bred). Ms. Pat has been at Ramer FOREVER and
knows everyone's parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and phone numbers. She cracks
the whip for Ramer native Pam Baldwin, our attendance and data clerk, and teaching assistants, Cindy
Hamm, Debbie Riley, and Jennifer Smith. These folks are the only ones who understand the Xerox
machine's idiosyncrasies and keep it happy and well fed.
Our custodians are the best ever! Mike
King, Perry Davis, and Sandra Lancaster keep our school looking cool! Our
halls and buildings could pass a military inspection with this dedicated crew at
the helm. Sandra is "back home" at Ramer.
Could we survive without the capable hands that prepare the great food in our
cafeteria? Ms. Kathy Ayers (another local gal) oversees a competent staff consisting of Ann Maxedon, Kay Robertson,
Penny King, and Rita Robertson. These ladies go above and beyond the call of duty,
often providing us with snacks and treats in the lounge as well as tasty meals in the
lunchroom.
K-2Pre-K students are fortunate to have Ms. Wanda Chapman. She has loads of experience and is teaching a great bunch of kids!
Kindergarteners are off to a good start at Ramer. Ms. Sondra Kiser, Ms. Dana Holmes, and Ms. Brandy Wardlow mother our beginners from August to May. They have a tough job but perform it superbly. Ramer is fortunate to have Ms. Sondra, former student here, teaching in the classroom.
Our first graders are in good hands, also. Ms. Linda Johnston , Ms. Kim Worthey, and Ms. Beth Brown are terrific at getting first grade reading off the launching pad.
Second graders cannot wait to move to Ms. Dru Broadway and Ms. Bridgette Jones's classrooms. They learn more skills as they sit under the able instruction of these two "old hands."
3-5Two sweet and understanding instructors handle third grade duties, Ms. Kim Hughes and Ms. Bridget Maness. Both are Ramer school "products"have returned "home."
Fourth and fifth graders are excited to change classes. Homeroom teachers
include Tena Coln, also a Ramer grad and reading teacher, and Rhonda Henry. Rhonda
splits classroom time between math and elementary P.E. She is joined by Freddie Miller who
teaches language and spelling. Donna Wright, another Ramer school grad, has science
and social studies.
6-8Students enter "junior high" in grade sixth. Grades 6-8 are departmentalized.
Ramer is a school-wide Title I school. Our Title I teacher is Ms. Renea Melton. Ms. Melton is heading up the new Bridges. Ms. Becky Smith teaches our Resource classes and is assisted by Carla King. Ms. Nella Steadman is our computer guru. Ms. Tena Rowsey serves as our Character Education instructor. Ms. Renae, Ms. Becky, Ms. Tena, and Ms. Nella are also Ramer alumni.
Music is taught
by Ms. Gina Foret. She is also Ramer's band instructor and gives music instrumental
lessons to beginning and advanced band students in grades 6-8. She assists her
husband with the McNairy Central High School band as well.
Ms. Gail
Petty is our school librarian. Not only does she teach library skills, she also
oversees the Accelerated Reading Program as well as maintains order in the library and
keeps our library up-to-date.
